Our founder Dr Vanderlinden is very passionate about natural medicine. He witnessed his mother survive “terminal” cancer using natural therapeutics after being given only a few months to live. This led to him entering the profession.
One of the supplements Dr. Kim Vanderlinden frequently recommends to patients is called IP6. Based on ground breaking research performed by leading scientists around the globe he feels that IP6 does provide many with a promise of better health. He was so impressed with the science supporting the use of IP6, that he wrote a book about the multiple benefits of this largely unknown antioxidant.
Then he had a chance to use EFAC. Clinically he was amazed at what he was seeing….many very difficult cases were responding. Just like IP6, these new oils were also supported by true leading edge science.
He was so excited to share the news! However there was a major problem….few were listening and instead continued doing what they had in the past. For example, many found no or only slight relief with glucosamine, but continued on it anyway….why he thought, especially if there was now a better way?
All too often in natural medicine marketers try to convince us of the benefits of their products based on “pseudo” science. For example we often hear “contains clinically proven ingredients”. In essence this usually implies that a product was in fact…never tested! Glucosamine is the classic example of misleading pseudo science.
There are a few important and very deserving natural products such as fish oils and vitamin D that are becoming well known based on their scientific merit. However IP6 and EFAC, which in Dr. Vanderlinden’s opinion are also very important for health, were still largely unknown.
In essence, it is frustration that led to the formation of Hope Science. EFAC and IP6 were not being noticed and so Dr. Vanderlinden decided to do something about it.
Today more and more physicians on the human side and veterinarians on the animal side are now familiar with the results provided by these outstanding natural products.
How did it come to be called Hope Science? There is one patient in particular that led directly to the name. Dr. Vanderlinden had a patient who had 3 previous back surgeries, but was still in constant agony. The patient said if he wasn’t so scared he would take his life. What was even more remarkable about his statement, was that his daughter was in the room when he said it….it must have been shocking for her! Early on in the office visit before taking the history, Dr. Vanderlinden asked the man to rub some EFAC cream on his back. Within 15 minutes a sparkle appeared in his eyes. Dr Vanderlinden asked him how his back felt and he was truly excited to say that for the first time in many years it was feeling better.
In his patient’s eyes Dr. Vanderlinden witnessed the return of hope. At the very core of medicine is hope. People with health challenges always hope to get better. At the same time science can provide a foundation for hope. Hence our name; Hope Science.
